Amazing Race Contestant Dies At Age 42

In 2014, South Carolina orthodontist Dr. Jim Raman and his wife Misti were the runners up in season 25 of the hit CBS series The but sadly this week, Raman died at his home at the age of 42.

Raman made a name for himself on the show as he and Misti became favorites to win after finishing five of the show's 12 legs in first place.

A cause of death has not been released but authorities are investigating. What is known is that police were called to Jim's home at 4:30 in the morning on Tuesday. There, they discovered Raman dead at the scene.

The Lexington County Coroner released a statement to a local news show that reads, “Nothing suspicious or criminal is involved with the case you are referencing and out of compassion and respect for family, my office will not comment on it.”

Jim and Misti were known on the show as the "Married Dentists." Together, they own the Irma, South Carolina dental office Irma Smiles.

Following Jim's death, the dental practice sent a statement to its patients that says:

“Irmo Smiles has suffered a tragic loss this week. It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing for Dr. Jim Raman. As our staff and the family prepare for Dr. Raman’s celebration of life, please join us in praying for peace and comfort during this difficult time.”
