As it turns out, the most popular side dish in the country is mashed potatoes, which takes the top spot for 10 states, followed by macaroni and cheese.

According to Zippia, people search for Thanksgiving sides the most on Thanksgiving Day, which could explain why you see so many people rushing to the store to puck up some last-minute ingredients. So this year, start planning ahead for your meal and enjoy the wonderfully glutinous holiday.
